Jalen Ramsey to play Thursday night vs. Titans after discussion with Doug Marrone

With questions surrounding his name due to being on the trade block, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey approached this week as if he’d play in the team’s “Thursday Night Football” game against the Tennessee Titans — and that turned out to be a wise decision.

According to Jags coach Doug Marrone, he and the All-Pro cornerback sat down and put their differences aside. As a result, Ramsey will be suiting up to play tomorrow against his hometown team for one last time as a Jag.

Early Wednesday morning, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Friday would likely be the date in which Ramsey will be shipped, which left his status up in the air for Thursday. Most felt the Jags would hold him out to protect him from injury, but with the team facing the potential of going 0-3, they also weren’t in the best position to sideline him either.

The news of Ramsey wanting a trade broke earlier this week after the All-Pro and Marrone had a heated exchange on the sideline Sunday against the Houston Texans. Ramsey apparently got hot with Marrone for not challenging a DeAndre Hopkins catch in the first quarter that may have been an incompletion. That resulted in Ramsey having words with Marrone on the sidelines and the two had to be separated after Ramsey nudged the veteran coach.

Ramsey held a presser Tuesday to address the trade rumors surrounding his name and told the media that he had been going through his regular routine with the team to get ready for Thursday’s game. He also didn’t deny that he wanted out, but did state that his team didn’t leak the info.

As for his suitors, it’s not known what teams interested in Ramsey, but it is known that the Jags are looking for two first-round picks for him. Some seem to believe they may not get that, but instead could end up getting one first, another top-3 round selection, and a player in exchange. Regardless as to what the deal consists of, it seems like the end of the Ramsey era in Jacksonville is closing in.
