A lot has been made of the comments by Jacksonville Jaguars personnel executive Tom Coughlin after he called out two of the team’s top players for not being at voluntary offseason workouts. First NFLPA president Eric Winston chimed in with his thoughts in support of the players, and now Jags cornerback Jalen Ramsey has taken to social media to vent his thoughts — with more to potentially come.
Ramsey’s agent, David Mulugheta, also came to his side on Twitter by stating that the young corner was working hard while also spending time with his daughter. Of course, by that he meant working out alongside his father in Tennessee, as he’s done the last two years.
As for Ramsey, it was only a matter of time before he spoke up for himself — and rightfully so. However, it will be interesting to see what he meant by telling the fans to stay tuned.
Personally, I don’t see the harm in two hard-working players missing the voluntary part of the offseason because there is very little to question in terms of their work ethic. Besides, if Coughlin views it as such an issue, maybe he should voice his opinion during negotiations for the new Collective Bargaining Agreement because complaining about it now achieves nothing — accept heat from the NFLPA.
