Jalen Ramsey returns to Jags’ facility Wednesday, availability vs. Broncos remains in question

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey returned to TIAA Bank Field Wednesday after previously being ill Monday with what was believed to be the flu. However, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he also has some injuries that could hinder him in practice this week, adding more to the speculations surrounding his name after he demanded a trade last Sunday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter added to the report by saying it would be an “upset” if the fourth-year cornerback played against the Denver Broncos this Sunday, which could mean the Jags may use a combination of Tre Herndon and A.J. Bouye on the outside for Week 4’s game. Ultimately, fans have to wait and see though.

Of course, with his trade demand still being on the table there will naturally be skepticism surrounding Ramsey’s name. His saga with the Jags all began after the team’s lost to the Houston Texans when he and Jags coach Doug Marrone had an altercation on the sideline. Ramsey got upset with the veteran head coach for not challenging a questionable Deandre Hopkins catch, which resulted in him lightly shoving Marrone. That escalated to both having to be separated after verbally arguing with each other.

Afterward, Ramsey reportedly had a meeting with football operations executive Tom Coughlin, and it didn’t end well. Ramsey told the “17 Weeks Podcast” that things got “disrespectful” on the Jags’ end. However, that didn’t prevent him from patching things up with Marrone before the Jags’ most recent game against the Tennessee Titans.

The Jags managed to not let last week’s distractions derail them. Naturally, Ramsey’s situation is going to cause more (regardless as to if he is or isn’t injured) because he has yet to rescind his trade demand and the Jags have yet to cave either. Still, it will be interesting to see what the injury report says going forward because the Jags could use Ramsey as they attempt to get to a 2-2 record.

Update (11:10 AM): Ramsey won’t practice Wednesday due to a back injury.
