Jalen Ramsey visits Jacksonville residents displaced by fire

Some have called Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey a self-centered player who only cares about his money and himself, but most of his fans, coaches and teammates understand that is far from the truth. He’s also been nothing short of great when it comes to giving to the community of Jacksonville, and this past weekend further proved it.

With training camp in full swing, Ramsey paid a visit to some Jacksonville families who were recently displaced by a fire at Calloway Cove apartments. At the moment, many of the victims are staying at a hotel in North Jacksonville which only furnishes microwaves, so Ramsey teamed with The Capital Grille to bring the victims a hot meal. He also sat down and provided some words of encouragement for each family.

“It’s just a sad, very sad, unfortunate tragedy, honestly,” Ramsey said via News 4 WJXT-TV. “At the end of the day, I just try to support them, and thank God that everybody’s OK.”

Ramsey’s time with the displaced victims also gave him the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of 10-year-old Miracle Hodges. Afterward, he challenged her family to make her birthday a positive memory and look at the bright side of the unfortunate event.

It’s unclear when the residents will be able to return home, but Ramsey’s act of kindness could be just the boost of encouragement each victim needed to press on.
