Jalen Ramsey expected to shadow Tyreek Hill Week 1

The battle between Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey was one of the biggest topics of discussion in last season’s Week 5 meeting between the Jacksonville  Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs and that will once again be the case for the season opener of both teams. Per Jags defensive coordinator Todd Wash, Ramsey is expected to shadow the speedster in the Jags regular season home opener on Sept. 8.

“He’s going to draw Tyreek, and he’s got to cover him,” Wash said Wednesday. “We’re very blessed. Our linebackers can run. All of our guys can run. We can just say, ‘Hey, Jalen, you go take care of him.’’’

For those who can recall, Ramsey added some fuel to 2018’s matchup by stating that Hill made the Pro Bowls of 2016-17 as a return specialist, leaving many to wonder if he was questioning the young receiver’s ability as a pass catcher. By the end of their Week 5 battle, Hill exited the game with four catches for 61 yards. And though that probably wasn’t the yardage total he wanted, Hill and the Chiefs got the last laugh because they put it on the Jags with the final score resulting in a 30-14 loss for the Cardiac Cats.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to hear from both leading into the regular season opener after witnessing last year’s turn of events. So far, Ramsey has managed to stay out of the headlines for calling out players, but that itch may get the best of him because he’s simply a competitive guy.
