Jalen Ramsey, Dede Westbrook no-shows for first Jaguars' OTA

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey and wide receiver Dede Westbrook were not in attendance for the Jaguars' opening organized team activity workout Tuesday.

Ramsey, who has skipped the team's voluntary offseason program for the second consecutive season, is not expected to arrive until the team's mandatory minicamp June 11-13.

Westbrook, however, is expected to arrive on Thursday for Day 2 of OTAs.

"We're in communication with those players," Coach Doug Marrone said. "We're in a good place as far as communication (between) coaches and players right now. The team is in a good spot that way."

Not seen on the field were offensive tackle Cam Robinson, linebacker Jake Ryan and defensive end Lyndon Johnson. Robinson, who suffered a torn left ACL during Week 3 against New England last season, continues to be in rehabilitation.

Ryan, whom the Jaguars signed in free agency from the Green Bay Packers, is also doing rehab work after he missed the entire 2018 season after suffering a torn ACL during training camp. And Johnson remains in a boot following offseason foot surgery and is not expected return until training camp.

Wide receiver Marquis Lee, who missed the 2018 season because of a torn left ACL, was seen running on the side field without use of a brace or protective sleeve.

Marrone confirmed that linebacker Telvin Smith, as expected, was a no-show. Smith said earlier this month that he plans to sit out the 2019 season to focus on his health and family.

"We respect his decision that's been made," Marrone said. "There hasn't been communication, but to me I'm going to accept that and we're here to help him, but obviously move on."
