The NFL offseason will take on a virtual format this spring as the nation attempts to adjust to life amid the coronavirus.
With the 2020 NFL draft approaching and no offseason workout programs, a lot of players around the league are going to be playing from behind when things finally reconvene.
ESPN.com took a look at which player from all 32 NFL teams would have the biggest adjustment and new hybrid safety, Jalen Mills was the Eagles pick.
The Eagles re-signed Mills this offseason with the intention of moving him to safety, where he’s expected to take over for Malcolm Jenkins. Mills knows Jim Schwartz’s scheme well but hasn’t played safety since college. Extended training at the position this offseason would greatly benefit both Mills and the defense overall. There could be some real growing pains if he has to just dive right in. — Tim McManus
The Eagles newest positionless player, Mills is a favorite of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and will likely have a minimal issue with returning to the position he played in college.
Most of Mills’ struggles will likely come when he’s matched up in the slot or jumping a route from his safety position that could lead to a huge play over the top.
