The Philadelphia Eagles are just days away from the start of the 2019 training camp and there are still several looming roster questions that need to be answered. For the Eagles secondary, coming up with a solid and improved cornerback group is imperative.
Jalen Mills is one of two Eagles cornerbacks returning from injury. Darby has been seen working out and getting in some work during OTAs and recently, Mills released this video of himself looking primed and ready for his return from a foot injury.
Mills looked healthy and ready to go, but the video falls on the heels of a report from Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice, that insinuated Mills possibly not being ready to go for the start of training camp.
Mills is still recovering from a foot injury sustained in London against the Jaguars. The team — and Mills — have not been forthcoming about his injury, so his availability for training camp is unknown, but it’s not looking good. Not only did he not participate in spring practices, but he didn’t even work off to the side with other injured teammates while practice was going on. The bet here is that he won’t be ready when the team reports for training camp.
Mills is indeed a favorite of Schwarts at cornerback and his versatility allows him to play safety if called upon, something that could add to the overall versatility of the entire secondary. It’ll be interesting to see how things progress over the next week and whether or not Mills starts out on the PUP list or if he’s a full go on the first day.
