Jalen Carter was the best interior defensive lineman in the league in Week 1

It doesn’t exactly seem like a stretch to have thought of former Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter as the best prospect in the 2023 NFL draft, and his draft day fall came as a bit of a surprise to everyone for good reason. Eventually the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles ended Carter’s “tumble” by snagging him with the ninth overall pick, to pair him with his former teammate and fellow first-round pick Jordan Davis.

The pick by the Eagles looks to be an absolute steal as Carter looked every bit the best player in the draft in Week 1. Versus the New England offensive line, Carter dominated all afternoon long in his professional debut. Against the Patriots, Carter managed to create eight total pressures and seven quarterback hurries, both were good for best in the NFL. Carter also managed to drag down Mac Jones once in a beautiful sack in the fourth quarter to help wrap up the game.

It is looking once again like Howie Roseman and the Eagles have stolen gold from under everyone’s nose, as they boast the best defensive line in the league and a handful of unblockable interior defensive linemen that will end up being every quarterback’s nightmare. If Carter and the rest of this defense can keep up the pressure, the Eagles could find themselves waltzing into the Super Bowl once again.
