Arsenal are closing in on their second signing of the January transfer window in the form of Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior.
Belgian attacker Leandro Trossard became the Gunners ' first signing of the winter window on Friday, arriving for a £21million fee plus add-ons, football.london understands. The north Londoners have then wasted no time to make their move for Polish centre-back Kiwior, who will provide competition for left-footed centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, whilst also having the ability to provide cover at left-back and as a holding midfielder.
Kiwior arrives at an Emirates Stadium full of optimism given Mikel Arteta's side currently lead the Premier League, sitting five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City despite playing one game less than their title rivals. The Gunners are also still in the UEFA Europa League and the FA Cup, meaning Kiwior will have plenty of opportunities to gain some valuable experience in the coming months.
