Jakub Jankto to Rangers resurfaces as Sampdoria star's derby heroics reignite transfer talk

Rangers reportedly remain interested in Sampdoria midfielder Jakub Jankto.

Steven Gerrard was linked with a move for the Czech Republic international during the last transfer window.

The Ibrox boss went on to sign Bongani Zungu from Amiens shortly before the October 5 deadline.

But Sky Italia claim Jankto is still a target for the Premiership leaders.

The 24-year-old scored for Sampdoria in their Derby della Lanterna draw with Genoa at the weekend in Serie A.

He's previously been touted for moves to Arsenal and AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Rangers have suspended Jordan Jones and George Edmundson after they breached strict Covid-19 protocols.

Ten people were fined by police at a gathering in Glasgow's West End in the early hours of Monday morning.

Rangers have launched an investigation and the pair have now entered a 2-week isolation period.

A club statement said: "Rangers have been made aware of an incident last night involving two of our players, Jordan Jones and George Edmundson.

"Both players breached covid regulations by attending a private gathering with others outside of their household.

"We can confirm that both players will be suspended pending an internal investigation. On the instruction of Dr Mark Waller, the players will also self isolate for 14 days."
