Jakobi Meyers gives explanation for dropped pass against Texans

Jakobi Meyers has been a bright spot in the New England Patriots’ offense.

Last year, the was the team’s leading receiver and now he’s leading the team in receptions (31), targets (46) and yards (302). He also completed both of his pass attempts that have totaled 45 yards this season.

Meyers has been the perfect addition to the team and he’s ascended from a quarterback in college to one of the league’s better receivers. That’s why it’s difficult to be frustrated with the mistakes that he very seldom makes. In a come-from-behind win against the Houston Texans, Meyers dropped a perfect pass in busted coverage from Mac Jones.

He was bursting down the sideline and dropped the ball before had a chance to run with it and potentially get his first touchdown. Meyers explained this play in a press conference on Wednesday.

“I lost it in the lights,” he said. “I mean, I’ve still got to catch it. But the ball can go through the lights, come back down through the lights. You’ve just got to focus a little bit harder. … (It was) the lights along the side of the stadium. I mean, it’s a catchable ball. I still should have caught it. I’ve just got to focus a little bit more.”

The Patriots still won the game and Meyers will still continue to be the top target for Jones in this offense.
