Jakobi Meyers explains ‘cold world’ tweet towards Patriots

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers obviously has a lot of love for the New England Patriots, even after his cryptic tweet regarding his former team signing JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Meyers, who signed a deal with the Raiders for three years and $33 million, shared a tweet from NFL’s Ian Rapoport reporting the Patriots were signing Smith-Schuster on a three-year, $33 million deal as well.

Granted, the breakdown of the numbers aren’t identical on the actual contracts, but in the heat of the moment, Meyers commented on the situation.

“Cold World,” Meyers posted on Twitter.

On Thursday, during an introductory press conference, Meyers elaborated on his Twitter post when speaking with media members.

“No, not for real,” Meyers responded, when asked if there was any animosity with the Patriots. “I mean, I just like messing with people, honestly. I just like to get under people’s skin. Honestly, man, I appreciate them for everything that I’ve been through there. I never really got to tell them bye as I was leaving the building. So that was me just being childish, for real. I love them, but I’m also happy to be here.”

The Patriots are hoping to build their receiving corps with more emphasis on yards after the catch with Smith-Schuster in the offense.

But Meyers leaves behind some big shoes to fill as one of the few receivers that has managed to be productive at a position that is a revolving door for New England.

Will Smith-Schuster be able to do the same?
