MANILA, Philippines – After being away from the limelight, Alyssa Quijano stepped onstage once again on Sunday, April 28, as she auditioned for a spot on Idol Philippines.
Alyssa faced the panel of judges – Regine Velasquez, Moira dela Torre, James Reid, and Vice Ganda and gave a brief background of herself. She also talked a bit about her relationship with singer Charice, now known as Jake Zyrus.
Charice and Alyssa first confirmed the relationship in 2013 and were together for 4 years before breaking up in 2017.
When asked how she is now after the relationship, Alyssa said she's okay and has since gone back to school and continued to sing.
She then performed the song "Araw Gabi" originally sang by Regine, who was impressed after hearing her performance.
"You did it perfectly.I love the way that you sang it. You gave it your own twist, you gave it your own version. I am so happy you're back. You are meant to do this," Regine said.
James and Vice were also impressed with her performance.
Moira meanwhile told her: "Never ever ever put your dreams on hold ever again. Because this is clearly for you."
Alyssa earned four yes votes, bringing her onto the next round of competition.
