Jake Wood fans convinced he's joining Coronation Street cast following EastEnders exit

Soap fans are convinced that Jake Wood ma be joining the cast of Coronation Street after he dropped a massive hint on Saturday morning.

The 48-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a selfie which showed him enjoying a hot beverage out of a Corrie mug.

Jake looked rather serious as he stared down the camera lens and simply captioned the photo: "Morning all. Can’t beat a cup of tea first thing," followed be a thumbs up and a laughing face emoji.

While some of Jake's followers thought he was just having a laugh, others began to question if he is making a move to ITV.

One fan asked: "Is that a hint? Are you off to Corrie after leaving eastenders?" while another commented: "Are you going to the other side?"

A third follower added: "Is that a hint? Are you joining Corrie?" while someone else joked: "Is this not the equivalent of you drinking from a Spurs mug?"

Another follower was convinced and wrote: "No I think this is his way of saying he is coming to coronation Street."

Jake left EastEnders in February after almost 15 years of playing Max Branning (BBC / Jack Barnes)

Jake previously joked that he was interested in heading to Weatherfield, when he was quizzed about his next move after leaving EastEnders.

"Is there a job at Coronation Street I think is the first thing," he said.

"No I think he’s got the invite to go and see Lauren in New Zealand and he’s going to go out there and give it a go. Fresh beginnings," the actor added to The Sun.

Jake's final scenes as Max aired back in February but EastEnders were not impressed with how he exited Walford.

Max was seen walking to the train station alone after his car failed to start, leaving viewers deflated with his grand exit.

One person tweeted: "this is such a pathetic leaving storyline for max, this is not the max we know!!! he’s a bad boy not a pathetic weasel!! justice for my man max! #eastenders."

Another person wrote: "Looks like Max deserves a better exit #eastenders," while a third added: "max didn’t leave Watford with a bang, boo #EastEnders."

Father-of-two Jake announced back in September 2020 that he would be leaving EastEnders, after almost 15 years on the soap.
