Jake Quickenden says vile trolling of his newborn baby made him 'question humanity'

Reality star Jake Quickenden has 'questioned humanity' after his newborn son was trolled online.

The former Dancing On Ice winner was upset by nasty comments made online when Leo was just a few hours old.

Speaking with the MailOnline Jake, who stars in the MTV show Celebrity Bumps: Famous and Pregnant, says he was used to being trolled but his defenceless son being targeted hit him hard.

Jake, 32, who shot to fame on the X Factor and was a finalist on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!, welcomed Leo last month with his girlfriend Sophie Church, 28.

He explained: "When you put yourself out there and you do reality TV you have got to expect that some people aren't going to like you and I totally get that.

"I understand people might say I'm annoying and I've got big teeth or whatever – and I couldn't really give a s*** but when its targeted towards my baby or my Mrs, who isn't really in the public eye, or a newborn baby that can't defend himself, it makes you question humanity."

Jake was accused of attention seeking after naming his son Leo Oliver after his late brother Oliver who died of bone cancer at the age of 19 in 2002.

Four years earlier Jake's dad Paul died also after battling cancer.

Jake was also trolled after he shared a topless snap on Instagram of himself cradling his baby boy while having precious skin to skin contact in hospital.

The NHS says skin to skin after birth is a good way for parents and babies to get to know each other while helping them to go through important developmental stages.

For dads with their babies, it's calming for them both and promotes bonding.

But the photo prompted some unkind comments from some Twitter users who thought he was 'showing off.'

One tweeted: "Why are you topless?? Planning on breastfeeding?? Congrats on the baby."

On Tuesday Jake shared a heartwarming video of Leo gazing around.

"Had to share this..... so in love with you @leooliverq," he wrote.

And in another post the proud dad, who has set up an Insta account for Leo, said: "Leo is changing so much, he’s so aware now he actually looks at me!

"I can’t wait till he smiles!! Past few days I’ve felt so much better and I really feel like I’m coming into my own now, I’m getting used to the no sleep aswell, don’t get me wrong it’s still bloody hard but it’s so rewarding!!

"I made @leooliverq an insta so when he’s old enough to decide if he wants insta, he will have so many amazing pictures to look back on, I wish I had more pics of me with my mum and dad and brothers!!"
