Jake Quickenden's newborn son targeted by sick trolls

Jake Quickenden has vowed to ignore sick trolls after he and his newborn baby boy were targeted with vile comments.

The Dancing On Ice 2018 winner revealed he was accused of attention seeking after naming his son Leo Oliver after his late brother Oliver who died of bone cancer at the age of 19 in 2002.

Four years earlier Jake's dad Paul died also after battling cancer.

Jake, who welcomed baby Leo with his girlfriend Sophie Church last week, was also trolled after he shared a topless snap of himself cradling his baby boy.

The former X Factor and I'm A Celebrity winner said on the ITV talk show Lorraine: "For us and for me especially, Oliver was my best mate and I'll always go on about him cos the more we talk about Oliver his memory lives on.

"When a lot of people have a child, they often name them after a parent or grandparent, but these trolls thought it was me trying to get attention.

"We give trolls, I do especially, too much of a spotlight and I’m just gonna try and stop doing that now.
"I don’t understand why someone would hate on not only a newborn baby, but also someone they have never met."

Jake was trolled when he posted a snap of himself shirtless while having precious skin to skin contact with newborn Leo in hospital.

The NHS says skin to skin after birth is a good way for parents and babies to get to know each other while helping them to go through important developmental stages.

For dads with their babies, it's calming for them both and promotes bonding.

But the photo prompted some unkind comments from some Twitter users who thought he was 'showing off.'

"When I was at the birth of both my children I’m sure I had a T-shirt on," sniped one.

And Jake clapped back: "Well you wasn’t told to do skin on skin mate, maybe cos you’re built like a f*****g sparrows leg!!"

Another tweeted: "Why are you topless?? Planning on breastfeeding?? Congrats on the baby."

Jake announced the arrival of his first child with Sophie on Twitter with the words: "Welcome little man.... Leo Oliver Quickenden!"

He added with a globe and love hearts that his son was: "My world."

Jake, 32, shot to fame as a contestant on the 2012 and 2014 series of the X Factor before entering the I'm A Celebrity jungle and becoming a finalist on the ITV reality contest.
