Jake Quickenden recalls shocking trolling against son Leo after girlfriend Sophie was told to ‘drown your baby’

Jake Quickenden is calling for a change in social media laws after being bombarded by cruel comments about his son.

The former X Factor star even revealed that his girlfriend Sophie Church was told to 'drown their baby' in a barrage of vile online trolling.

Jake, 32, has discussed the shocking abuse he has received, aimed at his son, since Leo was born in February.

"It really shocked me," the new dad told New magazine. "I'm used to people trolling me, but because I don’t respond to them, they saw an opportunity to target Leo instead.

"It hurt, but you have to ask yourself, 'Why are people doing this?' Sophie received one saying, 'Why don’t you drown your baby.'

"Something must change with the online laws."

Jake who shot to fame on the X Factor and was a finalist on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!, has previously laid bare the 'dark side of social media'.

He recently had a panic attack, the first one in a year, down to lack sleep and worrying about Leo and the 'trolling situation' which had got on top of him.

"I had abit of a flap, but you know what I’m not ashamed it’s normal and it happens and I breathed my way through it with the help of Sophie and today is a new day," he said.

In March he shared a heartbreaking post in which he told of the extent of the trolling towards Leo and called for something to be done about it.

He spoke about messages posted about his baby online after being been told he 'needs botox' and is 'ugly as f***' and 'weird looking.'

The Dancing On Ice champ also backed Charlotte Dawson last week after she spoke out on nasty messages about her son, Noah, who was born in January.
