Jake Quickenden has shared his joy at getting engaged to Sophie Church.

"The love of my life the mother to my beautiful Leo and Freddie, I love you so much."

And he added: "This isn't a drill it's actually happening."

Jake and Sophie have an adorable five-month-old son Leo.

Jake is also a doting stepfather to Sophie's seven-year-old son Freddie from a previous relationship.

Sophie wrote: "I said YES to the love of my life and my future husband.

"I couldn't have asked for a better step dad for Freddie and father for baby Leo. Thank you for making this holiday so special! I love you forever."

The 32-year-old says having Leo has changed his life and filled a void after he lost his own father and brother to cancer.

On Friday he shared a photo of himself joyfully lifting Leo as he penned about his love for his family while hitting back at trolls.

"My heart is so full right now…. I love my family, I love the relationship we have, we laugh and joke and take the p*** out of each other," he wrote.

"If people can’t see the love we all have for each other that’s a shame for them, if you think I’m obnoxious, up myself, desperate or arrogant, again that’s a real shame you don’t know me and you make your judgments on what you see in a snippet of my life or an article you might have read.

"Truth is I’m so full of love, I love life and embrace it, you never know what’s round the corner, I will talk to anyone, I have time for everyone, I take the piss, I love laughter it fills the heart.

"I’m polite my mum and dad raised me to remember my manners always and treat people how you want to me treated, if you have met me and I wasn’t polite or I didn’t talk I would be surprised!!

"Remember don’t judge a book by its cover, don’t try and cast a shadow on someone’s light because you are insecure or down in yourself, let others flourish let them laugh and live.

"Anyway rant over. As always much love and happy weekend."

Last week he said about his little boy: "This little lad literally makes my day every day!! Unconditional love is like nothing I can explain."
