Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury unofficial scorecard from boxing fight

Tommy Fury defeated Jake Paul by split decision after eight rounds to settle their grudge match in Saudi Arabia.

The long-standing feud finally came to a conclusion at Diriyah Arena on Sunday evening, after two previous scheduled meetings had to be cancelled.

Fury, who remains determined to emulate brother Tyson by becoming a world champion, took a standing count for a knockdown in the final round – with the British fighter claiming to have slipped – but had earlier done enough to earn a split decision on the judges’ cards.

No scorecards were released from the fight, but this is how Mirror Fighting scored the bout...

Round 1

The fight is underway with an early clinch to get us underway. Fury appears to be looking to measure the distance with his lengthy reach a significant advantage in this one. A scrappy start to affairs with the referee already having a word. Fury starts to work his jab which will likely be a key given his reach and sizeable frame. Fury looks to have settled the better of the two in the opener, with Paul initially looking to try and work his way around the straight shots. Fury is boxing from distance and working to body and head, but a meaningful shot is yet to be landed. Nonetheless it appears to be a good round for Fury who has started the brighter.

Round 2

John Fury seems to be happy with his man's opening round stating Paul has "nothing" as the bell rings again. Fury's jab is providing a good weapon for Paul at the start of the second again, with the British star having the better of things early on. Another neat and crisp jab lands with perfection from Fury, prompting a roar from the crowd after sending his opponent's neck into a jolt. Paul is trying to close the gap by walking forwards with BJ Flores barking instructions for his rival to be the aggressor. Fury continues to show superior skill, with Fury landing a good right hand as Paul continues to loop a right hand over the top.

Round 3

The right hand will likely be the punch that Paul will find his success behind if he is to win this fight going into the third. Fury has been the more accurate fighter so far, and the 'Problem Child' tries to unload with Fury on the ropes as he continues to try and be the aggressor. Paul's jab has shown some signs of improvement in this round with his jab beginning to work, but he is struggling to draw any combinations. The American continues to throw big power punches but one has yet to land with any significant power yet. A good right hand for Paul with 30 seconds as the pair continue to come in at similar times and engage in clinches. Fury and Paul nearly clashed heads towards the end of the round, but it is better from the A-side fighter who is starting to step up the pace.

Round 4

Paul will be hoping that he can continue the pressure, but Fury comes out with more pressure and has began to push things forward. A positive approach may have been sparked into life by his corner, who may have noticed the last round starting to shift the momentum of the fight. A good short right hand from Fury tags his opponent as he starts to let his hands go more and change his rhythm. Despite being called a b**** by Paul's brother Logan between rounds, the British star appears to have picked up his legs and is now starting to regrab control of proceedings. A big left hand by Paul lands which could give him confidence with 30 seconds left, as he searches for that big punch to try and turn the tide.

Round 5

Fury appears to be in the ascendency as we approach the midway stage. The stats show Fury is in ascendency having thrown and landed more punches than his rival. Fury is looking the more experienced boxer in the ring which will likely be given his experience as an amateur. A good shot from Paul draws groans, but Fury continues to jab his way into Paul successfully. Wow! A penalty for Jake Paul is taken off after he punched his rival in the back of the head! Fury seemed to be rocked briefly by a big shot with a minute left but the Briton regains his composure well as the pair continue to exchange. A big turning point could be that point taken off for Paul given he is already behind on my scorecards.

Round 6

Paul needs to go for it now given he will have received the scorecards after the points deduction. The fight could now open up with Fury looking to catch his rival as he comes in. Paul is going to need to land big shots at will now, and there appears to be some damage to the nose of Fury at the halfway point of the round. A quiet round between the pair which Fury appears to be edging despite the limited action due to his accuracy from range. WOW! Tommy Fury has had a point taken off for holding now! This could be a turning point if Paul can get it going given he appears to be losing the round.

Tommy Fury 9-9 Jake Paul

Round 7

Paul will need to potentially begin looking to throw the kitchen sink at Fury as the British star continues to land the neater work. Although the rounds are close, the notable skillful shots seem to be coming from the natural boxer who is trying to draw his rival on to big counter shots. Another flurry from Fury draws big cheers from the crowd, but it has been a fight of little-action with regards to searching for a stoppage. More good work from Fury who is boxing at a pace within himself, as both fighters start to look fatigued. Fury has a small cut on his left eye which appeared to come from a late accidental clash of heads.

Round 8

Both men begin trading at the start of a frantic final round! OMG Paul lands on Fury and it is ruled as a knockdown despite Fury's protests that he was off balance! Here we go that will even up the scorecards! My goodness, that was exactly what the YouTuber needed. Fury has damage to the left eye, but he starts to fight off the back of the ropes again and it is Paul who feels the pressure late on! It is going to be close with Paul starting to try and hang on in the late stages of the final round. The fans roar both men on as they start to trade, with Fury perhaps now more eager to get stuck in and land the big shot. Blood now pours across the face of Fury, and the final bell has sounded!
