Jake Paul uses Canelo Alvarez to make bold claim about UFC star Kamaru Usman

Jake Paul has claimed that he would easily defeat UFC champion Kamaru Usman if the two ever fought in the boxing ring.

Usman defeated bitter rival Colby Covington this past weekend, and is considered to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC - and one of the greatest ever fighters in the promotion company's history.

Usman previously called out Paul, after the YouTuber-turned-boxer openly mocked UFC fighters on numerous occasions.

Paul has already defeated two MMA greats in Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley in the boxing ring, with his next fight against his first professional boxer in Tommy Fury.

Earlier this year, TMZ Paul offered Usman a fight, before mocking him for visiting Disney World with his daughter.

Speaking to TMZ, Paul was asked what would happen if he fought Usman and replied: "He’s light work.

"I respect Canelo Alvarez, but as far as Kamaru Usman getting into a boxing ring, it’s light work. Look at what I did to Tyron (Woodley).

"In boxing it’s different, I would make light work of him."

Usman defeated bitter rival Covington this past weekend in a tough five-round fight for the UFC welterweight championship.

Covington certainly had his moment in the fight, landing some big shots on the Nigerian, however, Usman would come out on top.

When asked what he thought of Usman’s victory over Covington, Paul said: “I mean he could barely beat up a 170 pound guy and took a lot of shots.

"He’s getting old and that’s starting to show. He’s out of his prime already."

Paul's training for his fight with Fury is now well underway, with the two set to face each other in Tampa, Florida in just over a month.

On the under card will be former NFL running back Frank Gore against former Deron Williams.

Paul said: “That’s 99% done. We’ll hopefully have an announcement in the next 48 hours.”
