Jake Paul signs Amanda Serrano to new company ahead of potential Katie Taylor fight

Jake Paul has signed multiple-weight world champion Amanda Serrano as the first fighter to his new promotional company "Most Valuable Promotions".

The YouTube star made the move into professional boxing at the start of last year, and has since become one of the biggest draws in the sport on pay-per-view.

And he has now moved into the promotional side of the game, with his "MVP" company putting on their first show with Showtime Boxing in August, selling 500,000+ PPVs domestically.

Serrano appeared on that event with Paul, with both defeating their opponents Yamileth Mercado and Tyron Woodley respectively on the scorecards.

And now Serrano, who was signed to Lou DiBella in the past, has decided to join up with Paul and manager Nakisa Bidarian to become the first fighter signed with the promotion.

“This is really just a perfect relationship with perfect timing,” Paul told TalkSPORT yesterday.

“Nakisa and I founded MVP and it’s Most Valuable Promotions, you know. I’m one of the most valuable boxers and Amanda is the most valuable pound-for-pound female boxer in the world.

“With us coming together, really the sky’s the limit.”

“I am truly honoured and excited to be a part of this team,” Serrano added. “I just can’t wait. I’m looking forward to the future.”

Paul and Serrano met in Florida when the YouTube star was making his professional debut against AnEsonGib, with Serrano fighting Simone da Silva on the same card.

They were both involved in the undercard of a world title fight between Demetrius Andrade and Luke Keeler, with Eddie Hearn running the show on Super Bowl week last year.

But now it appears that Paul and Hearn will be working as promotional partners to put on a super-fight between Serrano and fellow world champion Katie Taylor early next year.

Hearn has said that he wants the fight to take place in New York in March or April of 2022, and recently shared a supportive post on his Instagram story indicating that he is willing to work with Paul to make the bout happen.

It would likely be the biggest women's fight in boxing history, with Taylor a two-weight world champion and Serrano having won belts at multiple weights as well.

Taylor and Serrano had all but agreed to fight in the summer of 2020 before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, which saw crowds removed from boxing for the majority of last year and resulted in the deal falling through.

But with restrictions lifting worldwide and the financial support of Paul and Hearn, it seems inevitable that a deal will be put together where the fight will happen.

And Paul is likely to co-promote with Frank Warren later this year for his own boxing return, when he faces Tommy Fury in his fifth professional bout.

Paul and Love Island star Fury are currently locked in talks for a December fight date, with the Brit recently turning down a £1million fight offer from the social media sensation.
