Jake Paul sends private message to Tommy Fury as $2million contract talks stall

Jake Paul sent Tommy Fury a private message as the pair's multi-million pound negotiations continue to rumble on for a February fight date.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer just recently returned to Dorado, Puerto Rico where he trains for his fights, and is expected to return to the ring for his seventh professional fight in the new year. He has been hopeful that, finally, his opponent will be Love Island star and unbeaten boxer Fury, but their talks seem to have stalled as of late.

Paul is keen to finally answer his critics and face a legitimate professional boxer, and at 8-0 as a professional, Fury fits the mould perfectly. The pair have already agreed to fight twice, but both bouts were cancelled as the Brit was first injured and then ran into a travel issue getting into America.

And as their talks began to halt, Paul has admitted that he pleaded with Fury in a private text to come to terms on a deal. Speaking with YouTuber Anthony Pompliano on his podcast, Paul said: "I've always leaned on doing something for the sport of boxing and earning people's respect by going for a tougher opponent, always.

"They just haven't gotten in the ring with me. [Tommy] pulled out twice, I believe now Tommy Fury is creating all these smoke and mirrors and he's ducking. He wouldn't respond to my DM, I sent him a DM like 'yo, you have the offer in your inbox, let's make this fight happen for the fans' and he just hasn't even opened it."

Paul then took out his phone and read the exact contents of the message to Pompliano, saying: "I'm sending you the offer tomorrow we either need to do this or move on for good as the fans are fed up. Look at the comments on your tweets, this was a big fight and now it's on the edge of becoming irrelevant. Your dad claims you want this, you say you want this and I want this, so sign up."

The pair began feuding at the start of 2021, and first came head-to-head when Paul put Fury on the undercard of his first fight with Tyron Woodley against his sparring partner Anthony Taylor. Since then, they signed up for a December 2021 bout and an August 2022 one, but they were both cancelled.

They had a heated confrontation at ringside in Dubai after Fury faced Rolly Lambert on the Floyd Mayweather vs Deji undercard. It appeared that the feud could finally be solved, but talks have slowed and Paul isn't so sure the fight will happen, adding: "It's all these, like, smoke and mirrors and at this point I think he's just playing us to get the brand recognition out of the beef."
