Jake Paul's technique branded "atrocious" after training footage released

Jake Paul's boxing technique has been branded as "shocking" by fight fans after footage of a training drill was posted online.

Broadcaster Showtime shared the video that shows Paul at the end of a training session with multiple-weight unified champion Amanda Serrano and his coach BJ Flores.

The pair are punching bags, and fans noticed there was a huge difference in the fighters' techniques, with some claiming that Paul looked "shocking" next to Serrano.

"Jake still has no clue how to box," one fan said. "That right hand is atrocious.

"Hands down, doesn’t bring his guard back up. It’s slow and telegraphed. As soon as he fights a boxer he’s done. Even an amateur boxer would mail him."

And another noted that his technique was "Shocking shocking shocking," while one said that "Jake needs to avoid anyone who got a decent left hook."

Another comment read, "This guy gets in a ring with a real boxer and his house of cards (and grift) comes tumbling down," while some fans were keen to point out how impressive Serrano looked.

"You can tell the gap and difference between the form and technique of a champ and an amateur," one said, while another added that Jake was more so a "novice than an amateur".

Paul will face former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in the main event of a big Showtime pay-per-view card on August 29, while Serrano will face Yamileth Mercardo in the co-main event.

Woodley and Serrano will make career-high purses to share the card with Paul, despite both having fought in a number of massive world title fights.

"My coach asks me all the time to define me why, you know 'Why are you doing this?' Paul told talkSPORT.

"For me, it's about making history and proving people wrong, I want to change the sport of boxing forever, leaving an everlasting impact.

"I want to show all the people who have doubted me and said 'Oh he's not a boxer, he's not a professional, he's a YouTube kid and not a real fighter'. I wanna show all of them that I'm legit because I am.

"Every single day I wake up with a chip on my shoulder because every single person in my life has doubted me and said I can't accomplish things. Boxing is the perfect way to prove haters wrong."

The card will feature Paul vs Woodley and Serrano vs Mercado, but there will also be a number of high level fights on the pay-per-view.

Daniel Dubois will make his American debut against Joe Cusumano, while a number of British eyes will also be on Love Island star Tommy Fury opening the card.

Fury is facing MMA veteran Anthony 'Pretty Boy' Taylor in a bout that he hopes to set up an eventual face-off with the YouTuber.

Elsewhere on the card, former world champion Ivan Baranchyk faces the undefeated Montana Love and Charles Conwell takes on Lucas Brian Ariel Bastida.
