Jake Paul's feud with Dana White compared to Vince McMahon vs Hulk Hogan

Jake Paul has been told his feud with Dana White is like the famous Vince McMahon vs Hulk Hogan rivalry which led to a match at WrestleMania 19.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen, an avid professional wrestling fan, made the WWE comparison in a recent YouTube video, saying that the "athlete vs promoter" aspect is a guaranteed ticket seller.

Sonnen likened Paul to Hogan and White to McMahon, saying that the YouTube star has now found himself "the greatest nemesis he could ever have".

The pair have gone back-and-forth on social media in recent days over issues such as fighter pay, with White insinuating Paul has used steroids in his boxing matches, an accusation he has denied.

And Sonnen believes it is one of the most fascinating feuds of the year, saying that Paul "can't go wrong".

"Jake can't go wrong, he just can't go wrong! All you're looking for when you look for an enemy is you're looking for a partner, that's all you want.

"You come after a guy and act like you're trying to ruin his day, but all you're really hoping for is that you get a response that spills over until tomorrow.

"And as long as you've still got a feud going with one guy you can just ping that back-and-forth until the audience is done with it.

"And Jake found himself the greatest nemesis that anybody could ever have."

McMahon and Hogan had a famous feud leading up to WrestleMania 19 in 2003, which culminated in a 'street fight', before the pair continued their rivalry.

And Sonnen believes the "promoter vs athlete" feud is one of the great storytelling devices in combat sports, whether it's legitimate competition like boxing and MMA or pre-determined like professional wrestling.

"Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon, athlete vs. promoter, sold more tickets in advance to a WrestleMania than any other WrestleMania history," he continued

"Promoter vs athlete just works, and when it's a promoter vs an athlete that isn't your athlete, that's a whole new element to it.

Who's side are you on in this feud, Dana White or Jake Paul? Let us know in the comments section below!

"The whole thing is very fascinating and Dana is always sitting on his cards - it comes to that expression 'a smart man knows what to say, a wise man knows whether or not to say it'.

"Dana is always sitting on cards that he never throws on the table and I'm sitting back observing this whole thing.

"You look at what Dana said, look at what Jake said or maybe it's what Dana said and what Oscar [De La Hoya, another rival of White's] said, or Bob Arum.

"I always enjoy these feuds that Dana finds himself in, but he never pulls that ace out of his sleeve and puts it on the table.

"He never does, I don't know why, but it could be that he knows he's going to and he doesn't want to play that card too soon.

"But another part of me thinks he doesn't put the ace on the table because he knows it's going to end the discussion, and he's having just as much fun as Jake Paul!"
