Jake Paul has blamed Tommy Fury for the hold-up with their fight being announced - but expects a deal to be struck.
The YouTube star has amassed a record of 4-0 since turning professional, but has yet to face another fighter from the paid ranks.
Fury himself has a record of 7-0 but has faced limited opposition since making his debut three years ago.
The pair have conducted a year-long back-and-forth trolling campaign which looks set to end with them meeting in the ring in Florida on December 18.
And Paul confirmed a deal is close, saying: "The contract is in their hands, there's negotiations going back and forth.
"They seem a little hesitant and scared with some of the requests they are making which is pretty funny, but we're ready and trying to line it up still.
"I think both parties want to get the deal done but we should have a fight announcement [soon]."

The fight looked to be in doubt last month when Paul made Fury a 'final' offer of $1million for an eight-round fight.
That would have represented the biggest pay day of Fury's career - but he turned it down flat.
"I just wanted to come on here and address a few things that Jake Paul has been saying that I have denied two offers to fight him," he told fans on Instagram.
"That is true, as those offers weren't even worth addressing, and now he has come out and said that he wants to give me a $1 million to fight him and i just want to say this.
"To everybody out there, $1 million for a fight of this magnitude is not even worth getting out of bed for, this fight is going to gross millions and millions of pounds.
"I cannot walk down the street without anybody asking me when are you fighting Jake Paul, so until you want to make a serious offer and put it on the table, we can't think about fighting pal."

The two fighters' teams have since returned to the negotiating table, however, with the fight now expected to take place a week before Christmas.
And Fury dismissed the idea that Paul will be his toughest test to date.
"Jake Paul wouldn't beat the guy I knocked out in my fifth fight (0-18 Scott Williams)," he told Mirror Fighting .
"He wouldn't beat half the guys I've fought because they're proper boxers and they've been around the job
"He's been training for three years and he's fought two UFC fighters and a basketball player so you can't compare the two."
