Jake Paul makes bombshell decision after Tyron Woodley fight to confirm Tommy Fury prediction

Jake Paul has announced his retirement from the boxing scene after extending his unbeaten record in the ring to 4-0 with a triumph against Tyron Woodley.

Paul defeated the former UFC champion after a split decision following eight rounds, adding to his previous victories against Ali Eson Gib, Nate Robinson and Ben Askren.

All four of Paul's opponents in his career have been debut fighters and there has been clamour for the YouTuber-turned-boxer to face a more challenging opponent.

However, that appears to be off the cards entirely as Paul has now seemingly confirmed his retirement from the boxing scene.

Taking to social media after the fight, Paul simply wrote: "Updated status: Retired boxer." - which followed comments immediately after the bout where he suggested an extended break after being posed with a question regarding Tommy Fury.

In fact, Paul's stance confirms Fury's own theory about the Cleveland native after the fight, where he said the 24-year-old could avoid taking to the ring again.

"Jake Paul is one of them, you’d be surprised if you see him in the ring again because I don’t think Jake Paul has got a lot of balls," he told reporters.

"It’s obvious. He got asked about me in the post-fight interview and didn’t have nothing to say. He confronted me in the hallway there, had his 15-20 team (of people) jump all over us. We was there. We were ready to fight there and then.

"He’s big in front of cameras but small by himself and Jake Paul realized tonight how hard the sport of boxing is, and he got clipped with a little shot. Imagine if he got hit, dropped. I don’t know if you’ll see Jake Paul back in the ring again."

Fury, now 7-0 following his victory against Anthony Taylor, has penned a two-fight deal with Showtime and is expected to return stateside for his next bout.
