Jake Paul in 'advanced talks' for Mike Tyson bout in blow to Tommy Fury

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are reportedly in 'advanced talks' for an exhibition bout, handing a blow to Tommy Fury's hopes of rescheduling his own clash with Paul.

Fury was forced to withdraw from a December bout due to a broken rib, with Paul instead facing Tyron Woodley for a second time and winning via knockout.

Since then, Fury has vocally pushed for the fight to be rescheduled but Paul has been reluctant to do so - and it seems the writing is very much on the wall.

According to the Sun, Paul is in advanced talks with veteran fighter Tyson, 30 years his senior, in a bout that is worth £36m.

It goes as far as stating that a bout has been 'verbally agreed' to take place, although Tyson himself was coy on the report on social media.

“This is news to me. I saw Jake in St. Barts and he never mentioned it," he tweeted in response to the story.

It does add up, however, with Tyson having returned to the ring last year with victory against Roy Jones Jr and widely reported to be keen on another fight in the first quarter of 2022.

For Paul, it fits too with the Youtuber-turned-boxer having aspirations of mega-money bouts despite his very raw boxing experience.

That puts Paul in a very limited market with fights he would take, as shown by the fact is yet to actually face a real boxer.

Tyson would certainly tick the boxes in that regard, though his age would likely still see Paul attract critics for his history of opponents.
