Jake Paul hits back over 'highly illegal' contract claims ahead of Tommy Fury fight

Jake Paul has denied claims that he has clauses in fight contracts which prevents him from being knocked out.

Paul is due to face-off against Tommy Fury in Florida next month, who defeated Anthony Taylor on the undercard of Paul's victory over Tyron Woodley.

Paul is undefeated in his four fights, after victories over YouTuber AnEsonGib, NBA star Nate Robinson, and former UFC fighters Ben Askren and Woodley. He was also victorious in an amateur bout over YouTuber Deji, the brother of KSI.

Following that bout in Cleveland, there were claims that part of Woodley's contract for the bout stated that the UFC veteran was not allowed to knockout Paul.

While that didn't mean the fight was allegedly fixed, it did supposedly mean that Woodley had to take a step back when he had his opponent on the ropes.

MMA fighter and teammate of Conor McGregor, Dillon Danis, was one of a few to claim that the clause did exist, as well as making it clear that he doesn't rate Fury highly - stating Paul was 'smart' to take the fight.

But Paul has responded that he "would be in jail" if he tried to make that stipulation a reality, given that it would break a number of laws around fixing sporting events.

The YouTube star earned a split-decision victory, although he was rocked and almost dropped in the fourth round, with Woodley opting not to push the pressure and go for a finish.

"It's a bunch of losers trying to make s*** up," Paul said when asked about the accusations.

"They want to get into headlines and get reporters to ask them about that exact question and put their name into the mix so that they can get a little bit of clout.

"Having a no knockout clause in a contract, I've never heard of that, and first of all that's highly illegal.

"I'd be in jail! That's rigging a fight, I would literally be in prison if that were actually a real thing.

"It's all nonsense, bulls*** and they got exactly what they wanted out of it which is to have people mention their name."
