Jake Paul fails to mention Mike Tyson fight in list of goals for 2022

Jake Paul did not mention a potential showdown with Mike Tyson in his list of goals for the next year.

The YouTube star is currently taking a break from boxing after defeating Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley twice in a successful 2021.

Reports claimed that Paul is in talks to face legendary heavyweight Tyson in an exhibition clash this year which could be worth over $50 million.

Paul did not mention any bout with Tyson on his list of goals for 2022, tweeting: "Year 25 goals: 1) Get better every single day & enjoy every moment doing it 2) Elevate Amanda Serrano & women’s boxing.

"3) Help as many kids as possible through Boxing Bullies. 4) Expose bully Dana / help fighters. 5) Go to outer space with Jeff, Richard or, Elon."

Despite not mentioning Tyson in his list Paul identified him as a potential opponent in a five-fighter list before the turn of the year which included Floyd Mayweather, Canelo Alvarez, UFC president White, Tyson Fury and Tyson.

Tyson announced that he would look to make a return to the ring this year after facing Roy Jones Jr during a successful exhibition staged in 2020.

It looked at one point as if Jake's brother Logan would be fighting Tyson with the pair also verbally agreeing to a fight.

However talks never materialised and a source told The Sun that the younger Paul brother and Tyson are instead "on board" to stage an exhibition in Las Vegas.

Despite the claim Tyson has since broken his silence on the bout declaring that he is unaware of talks ever having taken place to take a showdown with the YouTuber.

Paul is also taking time away from the sport after going on holiday with his girlfriend Julia Rose and is currently focusing his efforts on charge Serrano's clash with Katie Taylor which is expected to be held in April.

Tyson had previously claimed that he would be unwilling to knock out Paul as his family are too fond of him.

However the 55-year-old did admit that he would be willing to face Paul in the ring in a "money" fight.

"That is the fight for the money. Those are the money-making fights, those guys got 35 million people to watch," he said last year.

“Yes. Hell, I would fight them. They would fight me. That would make a lot of money.

"Hundred million dollars, they do anything, they don’t mind getting beat up for a hundred million dollars.”

Paul has spoken of his desire to stick to professional bouts in the past effectively ruling out stepping in to an exhibition.

However he could be tempted by a mega- payday in a fight that could eclipse the $30 million earning he made from three-fights in 2021.
