Jake Paul escapes federal charges after Arizona mall looting incident

Jake Paul has not been charged by federal authorities for his presence in an Arizona mall in the wake of George Floyd's murder by policemen last year.

The U.S Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona told TMZ that "prosecutors will not be pursuing federal charges against Jake for his conduct in the Scottsdale shopping centre days after Floyd's murder."

Paul was spotted in the shopping centre on May 30, 2020, when he was arrested by police officers and charged with criminal misdemeanour for the trespassing.

Paul claimed he and his entourage were in the shopping centre filming in order to document the looting that was going on after he was criticised for his inaction. Paul apologised for his actions later on social media.

The Scottsdale City Attorney didn't follow the case, but federal authorities looked into the incident. Federal agents were later seen raiding Jake Paul's house in Calabasas as well as the so-called Graffiti Mansion which Paul part-owns

Authorities confiscated guns from both locations, although it is unknown if that was in relation to the looting charges or separate legal trouble.

Whatever the case, the authorities failed to source sufficient evidence to charge Paul or his entourage with anything.

Paul's lawyers David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld told TMZ: "We are pleased that the U.S. Attorney reached the conclusion that no charges should be filed."

Paul is set to fight UFC star Tyron Woodley in a boxing match on August 30 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

Paul is currently 3-0 in his professional boxing career. He started by defeating fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, before knocking out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson in dramatic fashion on the undercard for Mike Tyson's exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr.

His most recent victory came against another UFC star, Ben Askren. Once again Paul's size was too much for Askren as he won via technical knockout in the first round.
