Jake Paul declares he is on "journey to world champion" as he returns to training camp

Jake Paul has returned to training camp ahead of his seventh fight of the professional career, telling fans that he has begun his "journey to world champ".

The YouTuber-turned-boxer defeated UFC legend Anderson Silva back in October to go 6-0 as a professional after almost a year out of the ring. And he is planning an early outing next year, with a February date likely for his next fight, with Tommy Fury at the forefront of his shortlist when it comes to opponents.

However, he recently stated that he has sent out offers to three opponents, meaning there are at least two back-ups should Fury turn down the deal. It is believed that a fight offer for the Brit would see him pocket as much as $2million after twice missing out on a bout with Paul.

Paul shared a video to his Instagram page showing his hectic last few months, captioning the post: "You’re now witnessing the journey to world champ." He then shared a number of story posts from inside his gym in Puerto Rico where he declared "7-0, here we go" and showed off his training gear.

The boxer's head coach BJ Flores recently left his Arizona home to reunite with his fighter in Dorado, while his fellow coach Danny Smith has also headed back to base. Smith has previously indicated that he feels Paul can get to the world level, saying that he will likely move down to 175lb to take on those sorts of fights.

Speaking with Vegas Insider last year, Smith said: "I find it to be very, very fun working with Jake. The media and a lot of fighters don't know how well he's progressing and they really don't know how serious he is. And they're going to be underestimating him when they get in there until they feel his presence, his strength, his power, his speed.

"We've noticed that with a lot of sparring partners because they get in there and they're like: 'wow, it's a life or death situation in there with him and he's better than we thought' the world is going to see that. The most important thing that I'm working on is his defence, his understanding of the selection of punches that you can throw and that same selection of punches that can come back.

"So defence is a huge factor in surviving in boxing. I know for sure that we're not going to be at cruiserweight. We're going to come to light heavy. 175. We've just been fighting at the 190-192 limit. He's just floating around that weight. But he will be a 175 pounder and he will crack the top ten."
