Jake Paul confirms next fight following Anthony Joshua talks

On target: Jake Paul - (AP)

Jake Paul is set to return to the ring later this year for an exhibition clash against world lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer had been in discussions with former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua about a potential blockbuster fight.

But Paul is now scheduled to face Davis on Friday, November 14.

Davis marks a major jump in competition, having established himself against elite boxers, whereas many of Paul’s past opponents were MMA fighters or faded stars.

Paul currently holds a professional boxing record of 12-1, with his only loss coming via split decision to Tommy Fury in 2023.

‘Tank’ Davis, meanwhile, boasts an unbeaten professional record of 30-0-1, including 28 knockouts.

There is a notable size difference between the two fighters. Davis typically competes at 135lbs in the lightweight division, while Paul weighed in at 199.4 lbs for his last cruiserweight bout against former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Paul stands at 6ft 1in, compared to Davis’s 5ft 5in.

Even with Davis’ far greater experience, Paul remains confident he can pull off a surprise upset.

“Gervonta who has been disrespecting my name for too long. His nickname might be Tank, but I’m an FPV drone and I’m about to disable tiny boy,” said Paul.

“Yes, he’s one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath.”

The rules for the exhibition have not been officially confirmed, but both fighters are expected to wear larger-than-normal gloves to account for the weight and height difference.

The fight will be streamed live globally exclusively on Netflix.
