Jake Paul and Nate Diaz finally agree to major rule change for boxing fight

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz's boxing fight has been officially changed to 10 rounds after a row between the pair.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul will welcome UFC legend Diaz to the ring on August 5 when they meet in Dallas, Texas. The fight marks Diaz's inaugural boxing appearance as he parted ways with the UFC after tapping out Tony Ferguson in his final bout for the organisation last September.

Paul vs Diaz was originally set for eight rounds but Diaz had called for a rule change whilst predicting that Paul's only chance to win is in the early rounds of the fight. "If I'm going to get knocked out, it's going to be right off the gate or the next three f****ng rounds," Diaz predicted.

"If not, then it's like you're in big trouble and I'm already willing to get knocked out. Are you willing to get tired and get your f****ng ass whipped and knocked the f*** out? You're over here acting like 'Oh, 15 rounds' I'm like, you're f****ng trying to blend it in so everybody forgets about it so it's a joke and it goes away. Right now, let's do 12 rounds. It doesn't matter to me."

Paul then agreed to increase the number of rounds after Diaz's proposal as he tweeted: "I guess he has good cardio. Ok Nathan, 10 rounds it is," just for Diaz to backtrack on the rule change as he responded: "I’m good with eight". Even with the rounds now being officially changed for the fight, Diaz reacted by jokingly tweeting: "6 rounds".

Diaz has been called out by Paul since he knocked out former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in their December 2021 rematch. 'The Problem Child' doubled down on his plans to fight Diaz after he caused trouble whilst backstage at Paul's fight against Anderson Silva last October.

Paul has just moved into a new $16million house in Puerto Rico that is kitted out with a music studio. The YouTube boxer plans to put it to use by releasing a 'diss track' aimed at Diaz before their fight, as he said in a recent video: "The music studio being here means it's time to make a song again. Maybe two songs. I want to make a Nate Diaz diss track and maybe just another song, kind of like fresh out of London vibes."
