Jake Humphrey's superb response to pundits trolling Newcastle United fans

Jake Humphrey has issued a superb riposte to pundits and commentators subjecting Newcastle United fans to 'ridicule'.

The Magpies dour draw with Fulham on Saturday night provoked the now regular post-match debate on Steve Bruce and United's style of play.

Scott Parker's side bossed the first-half and led at the break courtesy of Matt Ritchie's bizarre own goal. The hosts improved after the break and were handed the chance to level the contest when Joachim Andersen was dismissed for bringing down Callum Wilson.

The Magpies frontman stepped up and dispatched the penalty, but Bruce's side were lethargic in their efforts to capitalise on their numerical advantage in the closing stages.

It was a point which lifted United into 12th place at the time of writing, and just six points off the top four. However, it was another uninspiring display which left many supporters on social media frustrated once again.

BBC Sport pundits Robbie Savage and Chris Sutton have regularly debated disgruntled Magpies supporters in recent weeks and defended Steve Bruce's performance so far in the hotseat.

The pair took the opportunity to renew hostilities in the aftermath of Saturday night's draw, citing their position in the league table as evidence of the head coach's progress on Tyneside.

Humphrey has been applauded on several occasions in recent season by the Toon Army for presenting their views to several pundits, and was once again praised by the fanbase for his below post.

In a post he has since deleted, the BT Sport host wrote: "I think people on here purposefully winding up fans of clubs who are relentlessly loyal, and repeatedly let down, is a strange thing to get enjoyment from.

"Why is wanting more than mediocrity a reason for ridicule? Odd."
