Jake Hastie suffers Rangers blow as outcast left with B team for pre-season

Rangers winger Jake Hastie has suffered a blow to his career at the club after being left to play with the B team during pre-season.

The 22-year-old signed for Rangers two seasons ago but has played just two games for them and spent time at Rotherham and Motherwell.

But he returned to the club this summer and joined in pre-season training with the B team and lined up for the Lowland League outfit in a pre-season friendly.

It's a huge blow for the pacy wide man who burst onto the scene at Motherwell before making the move to Ibrox on a pre-contract.

It’s a huge blow for Hastie who now looks unlikely to earn another chance in Steven Gerrard’s first team.

Youngsters such as Josh McPake and Glenn Middleton have been involved in pre-season.

Hastie is the only senior player in the squad which includes a number of highly-rated youngsters.

There’s also a trialist in the team playing at centre back while American goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes is also included.

The stopper joined from Orange County towards the end of last season and is tipped to be have a big career in front of him as a goalkeeper.
