Jake Hastie's loan move from Rangers confirmed as Motherwell beat Hearts to sign midfielder

Motherwell have beat Hearts to the loan signing of Rangers midfielder Jake Hastie.

The 21-year-old has penned a short-term deal until the end of the season with the Steelmen.

The Ibrox club signed Hastie from Stephen Robinson's side in 2019 and will return to familiar surroundings to continue his development.

Hearts were also linked with a move for the Scot, but their current Championship status ultimately hurt their efforts.

Hastie spent the first half of last season on loan at Rotherham, before he was recalled by Steven Gerrard in January.

Sporting director Ross Wilson was keen to find Hastie regular first team football in the Premiership.

He said: “Jake needs to keep playing first team football and continue his development. We wanted that learning to come in the Scottish Premiership this season.

“Our discussions with Motherwell have been positive and we share the same goal to make this loan experience a strong one.”
