Jake Hastie returns to Rangers as Steven Gerrard hands winger a chance to impress

Winger Jake Hastie has returned to Rangers after an agreement was reached to cut his loan deal short with Rotherham United.

The Scotland U21 will head back to his parent club for the remainder of the season after making 16 appearances for the Millers during his spell south of the border.

And the announcement comes hours after Record Sport exclusively revealed wide pair Jordan Jones and Brandon Barker are already considered surplus to requirement by Steven Gerrard.

The 20-year-old will be tasked with providing competition in wide areas as Rangers look for a jolt after their shock defeat to Hearts on Sunday.

Hastie was a summer arrival from Motherwell and was sent to League One to hone his skills. He made an instant impact with Rotherham but his opportunities had become reduced in recent months.

The winger- who made two appearances earlier in this season with Rangers - will be looking to force his way into Gerrard's plans as doubts remain over Jones and Barker.
