Jake Hastie makes Rangers return as winger handed start for Celtic U-21 clash

Jake Hastie is set to make his first appearance in a Rangers shirt since his Rotherham United loan spell ended.

The former Motherwell winger, who moved to Ibrox in June 2018, had agreed to spend the full season with the English League One side.

Despite a bright start, the 20-year-old quickly fell out of the picture and returned to Glasgow on January 28 having made 16 appearances for the Millers.

Hastie has now been picked to start for Rangers U-21s as they face Celtic in the City of Glasgow Cup on Tuesday.

The side also features recent first-team debutants Nathan Patterson and Kai Kennedy.

The academy duo were handed opportunities by Steven Gerrard during the 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Stranraer earlier this month.

Also involved are Cammy Palmer and Daniel Finlayson after it was confirmed they would join Matthew Shiels in triple loan move to Orange County.

Palmer, Finlayson and Shiels will join the USL outfit for their new season, which runs from March until November.
