Jake Gyllenhaal outs himself as latest celebrity to turn their back on regular baths

Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed himself as the latest celebrity to suggest regular hygiene is not important – days after Ashton Kutcher grossed out the world with his own bad hygiene confession.

The 40-year-old actor can often be seen working up a sweat at spin classes or down at the gym – but apparently having a shower afterwards is not high on his to do list.

Jake – who is currently promoting a new fragrance by Prada – suggested that his body would ‘naturally’ clean itself and says his teeth are the only things he regularly keeps fresh.

The Spider-Man: Far From Home star aired his stinky opinions in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

He said: “More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times.

“I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that.

“But I do also think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves.”

He went on to take a swipe at nature’s natural shower accessory, saying he is “baffled that loofahs come from nature” because they “feel like they’ve been made in a factory but, in fact, it’s just not true.”

Last month, fellow Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher confessed he just uses soap and water on his “armpits and crotch daily” while admitting he doesn’t wash his children unless they are so unclean he can smell them.

While Frozen actress Kristen Bell and her husband Dax Shepard confessed they only bathe their own children when they remember to.

In more wholesome news, Jake revealed he is a big fan of Bake Off and it’s top chef Prue Leith.

He told PA: “I have always cooked and I’ve always loved to cook, and there are many things that I have hoped and wished that I would be able to do, that I had always deemed in my mind to be impossible.

“And then I made them and it’s opened my entire world. Things like, literally no joke, a black and white cookie. “I’ve searched the world for the perfect black and white cookie and never found it.

“And so now I get to try and make the perfect one for myself.”

Asked if he would ever take part in a baking show, he said: “In my mind, there’s literally nothing that can beat The Great British Baking Show (the US title for The Great British Bake Off).

“So no, the answer to that is no. But I do hope to one day meet Paul Hollywood.

“Though Prue is my favourite. I’m mesmerised by her spectacles. Her coats or spectacles change and it’s almost as if they change every shot.

“Or do they change every show? I can’t figure it out. And I just adore her. Prue’s fantastic. “I do really love Mr Hollywood, but you know, she’s amazing.”
