Jake Fromm named to O’Brien Award watch list

Junior quarterback Jake Fromm has recently been named to the Davey O’Brien Award pre-season watch list.  The award is given annually to the most outstanding quarterback in college football.

Past winners of the award have had tremendous college and pro careers and could put Fromm in some elite company.   Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray took the honor last year, along with the Heisman Trophy and number one overall NFL draft selection.

Fromm is coming off of a sophomore season throwing for 2761 yard and 30 touchdowns on 67.4% completion percentage, ranking him as the number four quarterback entering the 2019-2020 season.  He has gradually been improving, but will need to have a big year if he wants to beat out the likes of Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa.

Fromm will look to improve his draft stock this year and this award would only be fuel to his fire.
