This week, Pro Football Focus released its rankings of all 130 FBS starting quarterbacks.
Jake Fromm, who has been considered a top-five quarterback by just about every media outlet this offseason, checked in at No. 9 on the list.
That’s awfully surprising when you consider Fromm’s experience, success and statistics over his past two seasons. Sure, maybe he’s behind Tua Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence, but I’d take him over most of the guys ranked above him.
At No. 1 on the list is Clemson’s Lawrence, and Tagovailoa at No. 2.
Other players who ranked ahead of Fromm on the list are (in order of 3-8): Oregon’s Justin Herbert, Houston’s D’Eriq King, North Texas’ Mason Fine, Texas’ Sam Ehlinger, Stanford’s K.J. Costello and Iowa State’s Brock Purdy.
Former Georgia passer Jacob Eason, who is now at Washington, was ranked No. 36. Justin Fields, who is currently battling for the starting job at Ohio State, somehow ranked No. 16 and Jalen Hurts at Oklahoma was ranked No. 11.

Fromm hasn’t quite taken the Bulldogs all the way to a National Title but he has single-handedly given the Crimson Tide the most scares on their way to the season finale. Fromm is as good as they come from a clean pocket and his two-year grade of second in the SEC to only Tagovailoa. With a talented running back and one of the nation’s best bookend tackle situations, Fromm has Georgia ready to once again contend for a National Championship.
