Jake Fischer on chatter around the Lakers about Darvin Ham

As the Los Angeles Lakers continue to spiral downward, one clear scapegoat has emerged for their troubles: head coach Darvin Ham.

For the last couple of weeks, as the team has lost 10 of its last 13 games, an increasing number of fans have been asking for Ham to be fired. Those calls have only grown louder and more desperate with each loss.

Although as recently as a few days ago it appeared the front office wasn’t going to fire Ham, perhaps that is starting to change.

One reporter says Sunday’s game against the Clippers will be “crucial” for the coach’s attempts to keep his job. In addition, Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer says there is “lots of chatter from people around the organization” regarding a lack of faith in Ham.

Fischer also said that agents of players on the team are calling the front office and complaining that such players aren’t getting enough opportunities.

Based on the Lakers’ history, it will likely take something drastic for Ham to actually get a pink slip during the season. But the team appears on its way to losing a drastic number of games in bunches, if it isn’t there already, which could perhaps expedite his dismissal.
