St Mirren midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes is set to leave Paisley this week and join Dundee United.
The Saints have been determined to persuade the Irishman and his agent to spend another year at the SMISA Stadium.
But now it looks increasingly unlikely he will be seen in the stripes again, with the Terrors confident they've bagged his signature following positive talks and a tour around the Dundee club's facilities.
The influential 22-year-old made a big impact on the Buddies when he joined the club in November, with his confident performances in the middle of the park helping to spark an eleven game unbeaten run.
Late in December boss Jim Goodwin revealed he was confident the club would agree an extended deal with the midfielder, but his agent decided to explore other options heading into the second half of the season.
Doyle-Hayes' form dipped after the turn of the year, with the ex-Aston Villa man unable to inspire the Saints to the finals of the Scottish Cup and League Cup.
St Mirren also narrowly missed out on the top six, with the 22-year-old making 30 appearances in total for the Paisley club, scoring once.
The Buddies have already bolstered their midfield this summer with the addition of former Kilmarnock enforcer Alan Power.
