Jake Doyle Hayes set for Dundee United transfer despite St Mirren contract offer

Dundee United expect to seal the signing of Jake Doyle-Hayes this week.

United boss Tam Courts has been after the attacking midfielder since he took over.

The Irishman was also offered a new deal by St Mirren but he looks set to move to Tannadice.

The 22-year-old has already held talks with Courts and had a tour of United ’s training facility.

Doyle Hayes also had interest from England, where he came through the ranks at Aston Villa, but is set to remain in Scotland.

Courts has already signed former Scotland international Charlie Mulgrew on freedom of contract from Blackburn Rovers.

Leicester City and Southampton are both keen on United’s teenage defender Kerr Smith.

They are both willing to make £350,000 moves but it is understood that Smith’s preference is to remain at United.

He wants to continue playing first-team football and believes his best opportunity for that will be at Tannadice.
