Jake Doyle-Hayes Hibs return boost ahead of St Mirren Jamie McGrath reunion

Jake Doyle-Hayes is expected to return for Hibernian to face his former club, St Mirren, this weekend.

The 22-year-old has impressed since joining the Easter Road side in the summer but he missed the Edinburgh Derby against Hearts at the weekend.

Hibs boss Jack Ross confirmed that Doyle-Hayes was 'unwell' but the talented midfielder is likely to be available for the visit of St Mirren.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international is set for an intriguing battle against fellow countryman, and former teammate, Jamie McGrath.

The Ireland internationalist was courted by Hibs this summer and they made a late deadline day move to sign the 24-year-old.

Buddies boss Jim Goodwin was offered Scott Allan and Drew Wright as part of the deal but a transfer couldn't be agreed before the window closed.

Doyle-Hayes has been excellent this season and he started Hibs' last three league fixtures before missing the goalless draw against Hearts.

Ross faces a selection dilemma on Saturday as Joe Newell made an impressive return from injury on Sunday.
