Jake Carter said he was a nobody and only known as “Nathan Carter’s brother” before Dancing With The Stars.
The pop singer, who won the second season of the hit RTE show last year, added he is hoping to return to the Irish TV scene soon to further boost his profile.
The 20-year-old from Liverpool told the Irish Daily Mirror: “I always say I wasn’t really known before Dancing With The Stars.
“To be honest, I didn’t really have anything standing by me.
“I was just known as Nathan’s brother and it definitely brought out that I am my own person and sing a completely different genre, so it has definitely boosted my profile. I’ve got a lot out of the show so it has been great.”

And hinting at a possible return to our screens, the singer, who is starting his new nationwide tour today, said: “I’ve been asked a couple of times if I would do the likes of I’m A Celebrity and stuff and I would definitely give it a go if they asked.
“There is talks at the moment with different Irish production companies about different shows that could be coming on screen so hopefully I will be back on the TV screens in a few months.”
The Supernatural hitmaker, who is based in Co Fermanagh, said he missed the buzz of music gigs while he was off exploring other projects recently.
He added: “I haven’t really had a gig now in six months, actually the last gig we did was in Vicar Street because I did the panto and I was writing and in the studio so it has been a bit mad that it has been that long since I’ve been gigging with the band and with the lad.
“I can’t wait to get back on stage now because it is definitely one of the best feelings in the world.”

Jake is gearing up to perform at various festivals, including the inaugural Funfest Family Festival at Tayto Park in June.
But he revealed he won’t be rushing to join up for a duet with his brother Nathan at the event.
He said: “Probably not no, we kind of stay away from that because our music is very different. He is very country and I am very pop.
“But I am really looking forward to it and Ireland kind of needed it because a lot of the music festivals are targeted towards older teens and adults, so it’s great to have something for the whole family.”
