Jake Carroll hit with two match ban as Motherwell defender accepts charge from SFA

Jake Carroll has been hit with a two match ban for a poor tackle in Motherwell’s draw with Livingston.

The defender was booked at the time but the compliance officer offered him a two match ban after deciding it was serious foul play.

They could have taken the decision to a hearing on Thursday but Motherwell and Carroll both decided to accept it.

The incident happened in the final minute of the game with Carroll taking a poor touch before flying into a challenge with Livingston defender Nicky Devlin.

The Irishman also hurt himself in the incident but both players were able to finish the game.

The 27-year-old will now miss games against Celtic and Hearts.

Carroll only joined Motherwell in the summer from Cambridge United and previously had a loan spell at Partick Thistle.

He played in three of the four Betfred Cup matches before making his Premiership debut on Saturday.
