Jake Bidwell on QPR's poor form, the secret meeting and 'people not doing their jobs'

Jake Bidwell has opened on the mental struggle that comes with a poor run of form.

The QPR defender has been an ever-present in Steve McClaren's side this term - establishing himself as one of the core members of the Hoops squad.

That comes with a degree of pressure particularly when on a run of just one Championship victory since Boxing Day last year.

Speaking about the club's poor form, Bidwell said: "Obviously it’s been horrible - you don’t enjoy your life when you are losing every week and are just constantly thinking about it.” Admitted the QPR left-back.

“You’re putting in 100%, doing everything right in training but not getting any results – it can be draining. This week we have a bit of time to refresh and iron a few things out which we haven’t had a chance to do for a while. We all really want a strong end to the season.”

What the EFL's summer transfer window statement means for QPR, Brentford, Millwall & others

He added: "When you have had results like we’ve had things can get confusing without you even realising. People think they are doing their jobs but maybe not in the way another person expected so it was good to clear the air.

“We all had an honest chat and I think it helped and hopefully we can show that in the last few weeks of the season. We came from two goals behind against one of the most in form teams in our last game. We didn’t let our heads drop and got a point which was the least we deserved I thought.”

Following the 2-2 draw with Hull City, Bidwell has set a target for where he believes QPR could - and should - finish this season.

Geoff Cameron lifts the lid on the blunt team meeting QPR held after Rotherham defeat

“We have to make sure that last Saturday is a springboard to push on for the rest of the season. If we can get a few results and finish mid-table then for me personally that is a fairer reflection of how we’ve played this year.”

He added: “It feels like we’ve been punished for every single mistake in the last few weeks but we need to try and put things right with a strong end to the season.”
