We’ve seen this in sports from time to time — frustration that ends up hurting the frustrated party, which is insult to injury (see Smart, Marcus, or another NBA player, McDaniels, Jaden).
Thank goodness this one is a really minor injury. YES cameras noticed New York Yankees first baseman Jake Bauers had a cut on his upper lip during the team’s eventual 7-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
The culprit? Bauers slammed his helmet down after a strikeout and it came up and smacked him in the face.
Obviously, it could have been worse. But that just stinks and now there’s a GIF of it (see below):
